I am a registered counsellor, experienced educator and mother of two young children, with a passion for supporting people through life’s challenges, transitions and opportunities for personal growth.

I hold a Bachelor of Primary Education and a Master of School and Guidance Counselling, with over seven years of experience working as a Guidance Officer across primary and secondary schools in Queensland.

My journey

My journey began in education, teaching in Australia and London before returning to Queensland to work with children from diverse backgrounds, including refugee students and young people experiencing significant social and emotional challenges.

These experiences inspired me to explore how we can better support emotional wellbeing, connection and resilience, leading me to pursue postgraduate studies in counselling.

After many rewarding years supporting children, adolescents and families in schools, I relocated to beautiful Tasmania with my family and established Calmer Prana Counselling & Wellbeing.

My approach

“I believe that meaningful change begins when we feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted.”

My counselling approach is warm, compassionate and person-centred, drawing upon evidence-based counselling practices, solution-focused strategies, mindfulness and creative therapies.

I offer counselling for adults, children (8+) and adolescents, supporting people experiencing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, emotional challenges, relationship difficulties and life transitions.

I have also undertaken training in Initiatic Art Therapy techniques and enjoy incorporating creativity, art, mindfulness and sensory-based activities into sessions where appropriate. Sometimes words alone cannot express how we feel, and creative expression can offer another meaningful way to explore our emotions.

Women’s wellbeing & parenting

As a mother of two young children, I also have a special interest in women’s wellbeing and supporting parents through life’s changing seasons.

Motherhood can bring immense joy alongside exhaustion, uncertainty and emotional challenges. I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space for women navigating parenting, stress, identity changes and everyday wellbeing.

I draw upon my counselling background, training in Circle of Security Parenting and understanding of attachment-based approaches to support parents in strengthening their connection with themselves and their children.

Babies up to 12 months old are welcome to accompany their parent to counselling sessions.

A holistic approach to wellbeing

Alongside my counselling background, I have undertaken training in Pranic Energy Healing, including Basic and Advanced Pranic Healing, Pranic Psychotherapy and spiritual development.

My Pranic Healing courses also include Energetic Defence (Pranic Self-Defence), Crystal Pranic Healing and Awaken the Light Within You, levels 1 and 2.

These experiences have shaped my appreciation for the connection between mind, body and soul.

At Calmer Prana, professional counselling and complementary energy healing are offered as separate services, so you can choose the approach that best aligns with your individual needs, values and beliefs.

Beyond the counselling room

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring nature, hiking, travelling, yoga and meditation.

I believe in finding moments of calm and connection in everyday life, appreciating the small glimmers of joy along the way.

At Calmer Prana, my vision is to nurture connection between mind, body and soul, supporting you to find greater calm, reconnect with yourself and move towards your goals in a holistic and meaningful way.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Warm wishes,
Leah
